Frequently Asked Questions

Is the original asylum the Academy was founded in still standing?

Indeed it is! The asylum that the first Academy building, now known as the Serfling building in honor of one of the donors to its renovation, still stands and operates today as an acadmic building. It does not much resemble the original building, however, as many renovations and remodels have been done to keep the building in good repair and compatable with modern equipment.

Is it true that Sauveterre Academy is associated with the prison for the empowered nearby?

This is true, though it is perhaps wrong to call that facility a prison. Many of the individuals living at the containment facility are not criminally dangerous; they are simply not in the correct state of mind to live amongst society, or are otherwise unable to control their powers in a way that is likely to endanger others. While the academy and containment facility are a large distance apart, our mentorship and therapy programs in particular are associated with the containment facility to assist in the rehabilitation of some of the individuals there.

How many students take part in the Academy's academic programs?

We estimate that there are about 100 elementary school students, 100 middle school students, 1000 high school students, 2500 college students, and 200 post-graduate students with us at any given time, though these numbers have been known to fluctuate as needs arise.

What are your most popular majors for college and post-graduate students, excluding your mentorship and therapy education programs?

Excluding those majors associated with the academy itself, the most popular undergraduate degrees at the Academy are Philosophy, Neuroscience, Biology, and History. In our post-graduate program, our most popular degree to pursue has been Master of Science for many years, though we have several students go through our Master of Philosophy program as well.
