Project 3 - Self Assessment Cont...
December13, 2011

The printing technique that I used for each of the sections is different to add depth more depth to the image and suggest what my intentions are for the piece. Starting with the last section – the future - the images were clearly transferred but I managed to add more supersauce (the solution that was used to make the images stick) to the edges of the portraits. By doing this I wanted the audience to get a sense that this section was still in the works and that it hasn’t been fully fleshed out as the first section. The first section is carefully printed with less super sauce so that the images wouldn’t shift while I was in the process of transferring them on the mirror.

I think that I was able to accomplish the goals that I had for this piece. I do get a sense of progression through time as the images transition from one to another. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that this piece is intentionally talking about the artist’s family. The idea that the family is no longer together or complete may not seem as apparent unless they were to think about the artwork conceptually. The mirror works just as I intended for the project. If I was able to put the piece in a place that would only show just a background that would be great to block out the background when people look into the mirror. Possibly finding alternate layout solutions to convey the same idea would be helpful to see which layout would work best to convey the idea that I wanted.

Overview of the Semester
I thought the second project was fun to experience even though we were in short just generating artwork for the computer science students.  More coordination with the two teams would be beneficial for the project all together. Possibly scheduling the class the same time could make the communication with each of the teams possible. This class was somewhat valuable in terms of learning how to transfer images on different surfaces and having a game design portfolio to show.

I was able to work with more hands on stuff such as the final project rather than just sitting in front of the computer and generating artwork from there. It was nice to work off the screen once in a while and “experiment” with other mediums at the same time.
