2015
Occupancy Sensors
In spring of 2015 I have worked to implement sustainable motion sensor light switches into the hallways of all the traditional residence halls at St. Mary's College of Maryland. These sensors turn off lights when no one is in the space, saving electricity and therefore reducing carbon emissions. Funds have been secured for the project, and installation will begin fall 2015.
Sustainable Lighting at the Boyden Gallery
This summer I recieved a research grant to study the sustainable lighting possibilities for the Boyden Gallery at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The project will consist of replacing the lights of the gallery from incandecents to more energy efficient options, such as LEDs. I will also analyze other properties of the gallery, such as the purchase of more eco-friendly paints and materials.
Installation on light's effect on art
In addition, to the research this summer, I will also be exploring the effects of gallery lighting on art I will investigate the purpose of light in art in my art. This will culminate in an installation in the gallery, a solo show.
