intention statement

I am compiling video footage taken from a local abandoned complex. I want others to better understand through experiencing the unexpected aesthetic quality in such a place. The household items left from another time in dialogue with the unkept vegetation that has naturally cultivated over the time narrates varying stories of gradual decay in process. The experience of the decaying process is overwhelming in person, so I was hoping to better explain this experience with video in combination with my photo work. Through my still photo work on the project, I am trying to reveal the beauty of this decaying process. Through the video work I am aiming to push the medium of the video to show the ever-present breathe of the place. From the engulfing quality of the plants to the breeze slamming doors closed, the continence of life can be seen and heard. The experience of life in this decaying stage is exactly what I am aiming to narrate through video.
